Gary was my design manager and made my job so much easier and more enjoyable. It is every designer's dream to have a boss that actually knows about design and while Gary managed our team well, he was also able to give valuable design feedback. I've known Gary for many decades. I made a design and submitted it to Gary. He sent me back a white paper on similar designs in the business space. I continued with my design and he countered by sending me a blog concerning profitability and certain interfaces. The issue was not that the design was bad, it was that it wouldn't make the company as much money. Gary is the best practitioner of UI/UX principles I've seen. He applies the science much better than how most designers see it (as just a couple of guidelines). As a developer I appreciate a lot about the way Gary does his research before delving into a project. How the web is designed and interacted with is influenced by the psychology of the end user. Gary does the reading ahead of time and puts together plans that make sense and have rational and logical reasoning and investigations behind it.
